Advantech, the global leading ePlatform service provider, has announced their continued support for the new release of Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3. There are several powerful functions added into this release, including Microsoft Office & PDF viewers, and Adobe Flash Lite 3.1.0. Release 3 gives power to differentiated devices with advanced technologies that deliver better user experiences—all on a solid platform to efficiently bring devices to market.

Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 is a powerful new release since CE 6.0 R2 was released in Nov 2007. Microsoft has collected all the feedback from customers and integrated new functions.

CE 6.0 R3 New Functions

• Silverlight UI Framework: This helps developers to quickly build UI to reduce development time.
• Connection Manager: This manages connections for General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), Wireless LAN (WLAN), Bluetooth DUN, etc.
• Office & PDF Viewers: This includes Office viewers for Word, Excel and Powerpoint. They support file formats based on 97-2003. The PDF viewer supports version 1.3; equivalent to Acrobat 4 and later.
• Adobe Flash Lite 3.1.0: The Adobe Flash Lite plug-in enables Internet Explorer to show content created with Adobe Flash; equivalent to Adobe Flash 9.

Runtime SKUs
In Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3, all new functions are supported in the CE Pro version. This means that customers don’t need to pay additional money to benefit from them.
